Ms Roche received the prize for her work in assisting the people of Chernobyl following the nuclear disaster of 1986. Under Roche’s leadership, Chernobyl Children International (CCI) has delivered over €105 million to the areas most affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and has enabled over 25,500 children affected by the Chernobyl disaster to come to Ireland for vital medical treatments and recuperation.
